Back in August I made quite a few outfits for the Troy/Rielly wedding. The Bride, Mother of the Bride, four Bridesmaids, one guest and my own dress. Janis Rielly’s was great to make, what she wanted was beautiful and complimented the feel of the whole wedding. At times this was a bit of a challenge but that made it even more enjoyable to produce.
The perks of the job are getting new dresses when you want them, (or when you have time). Wilma is a dress I made for a friends wedding, Madeline is the dress I made for Christmas because everyone needs a party frock. Ria was made for a night out, this is worn with a corset to make my waist look smaller! I love this dress but still haven’t worn it, really need somewhere nice to go, any offers? Xx
Some of you might remember that in the early days of Violet Flamingo I didn’t have a studio with a cutting table or all the machines I needed. For the first fourteen months I worked on small items like fascinators, hair accessories, jewellery and bags. I sold most of the small items at craft fairs and in concessions dotted around the North West. I did sell some of the more detailed fascinators on the website but as I moved into the studio I pushed this to one side. I still offer bespoke fascinators to my clients but Violet Flamingo was always intended to be bespoke clothing.
A friend of mine has recently photographer some of the old samples and they are currently on sale through the facebook page –
Another happy bride in her bespoke dress, bolero and sash.
I’m always over the moon creating unique pieces for clients and this was a real treat to make. I think she looks absolutely stunning! Also those shoes are amazing, finish the outfit off beautifully!
